Carbon Fiber

Carbon fiber is an incredible premium 3D printing material. It is designed to be very rigid, meaning it will not bend easily. This makes it ideal for quadcopter frames, robot chassis, propellers, linkages, and more. Parts printed in carbon fiber have a beautiful matte black finish that sparkles slightly due to the short chopped carbon fibers embedded in the plastic.

Material Properties

Please note that these properties are heavily dependant on part geometry and printing parameters. When submitting an order, be sure to indicate how the part will be used so we can help meet your needs!

Stress Strain Curve

This stress strain curve was created with the help of the materials testing lab here at McMaster University in JHE. Tensile tests were performed on samples 3D printed with 2 perimeters, 3 top & bottom layers, and 20% infill. As these results are unique to these parameters, only use the stress strain chart to compare materials. We cannot guarantee that your part will have the same properties.

We're waiting on the manufacturer to provide us with carbon fiber's material properties. The filament we use is Proto-pasta's Carbon Fiber PLA Composite.
